Joe Biden-Paul Ryan First Debate Between Two Catholics

On one side, Democrat Joe Biden, who says that wearing the rosary in his hand the day continued as vice president in the 'Situation Room' Bin Laden hunt. On the other, Republican Paul Ryan, someone who as a child was an altar boy in the parish of his neighborhood. For the first time in U.S. history, two Catholics clash in one of the presidential debates, the starring tonight (starts at 3 am GMT) by candidates for vice.

The religion that unites them while also separates: Wisconsin Congressman Ryan is practicing, defender of the Church's teaching on abortion and homosexuality, which was many years Delaware Senator Biden, receives less frequently sacraments, protects abortion and gay marriage advocates. Ryan can say that his opponent away from Catholicism in these issues, but Biden's claims that the Republican who stands out from the social doctrine of the Church, with its proposed budget cuts. In the background, the votes of Catholics, who constitute 27% of the electorate and a slight tilt toward Democrats historically, have become increasingly aligned with the majority vote.

Candidates' surrogates
The paradox is that in the great night of their political careers, both candidates will not defend their own views, but the application of their heads. For Obama, who will debate at 30,000 feet, flying back from Florida, it is essential that Biden truncate the upward trend of the Republican campaign, Mitt Romney who drove with his sharp victory in the debate last week. Romney is crucial for Paul Ryan prolong the "moment" in which he finds his bid for the White House. Obama and Romney will have his second face to face until next Tuesday.

Above all it will be a clash between a candidate more visual (Biden is on the verge of 70 years) and one young (Ryan has 42). The Republican celebrated his second birthday when the Democrats came to the Senate. The Democrats have the majority support of the youth, but this time their mobilization is less than four years ago when they turned on the election of Obama. Ryan's youth can attract some of the disenchanted.

The risks of each
Obama and Romney will continue the confrontation with fingers crossed: the president, Biden does not commit to one of his frequent gaffes, the former governor of Massachusetts, for the brilliance of Ryan takes you into the byways not electorally committed (expert on budget and health care reform, is easy to refer to issues with which Romney does not count).

Ryan Biden Give a Lesson to Their Leader’s Debate

It was a discussion with content, lively and, at times, even aggressive, between two politicians well prepared and willing to exchange arguments. The two best drew the lines between Democrats and Republicans than did their bosses. The moderator, Martha Raddatz, passed with his role. He led the conversation through a wide range of topics from taxes to Iran, Afghanistan and abortion.

The debate does not leave a clear as the winner of last week and each party gives as its candidate the winner. The vice president was on a mission to repair the damage caused by Obama's poor performance last week, which has prompted Romney in the polls. Biden dominated the debate, was stronger, more aggressive and was safer. He argued passionately about taxes and abortion and why Obama deserves a second term. Democrats defended the management of the past four years and the Republicans stood outside the reality of the country's middle class.

But many today criticize her manners. 27 years older than his opponent, Ryan Biden treated with condescension and laughs loud and mockingly referred to the congressman as "my friend." His attitude may have been moral to Democrats, but independents irritated. "A lot of lies," Biden came to say when Ryan talked about how defense budget cuts will make the country weaker.

The vice president used some of the arguments that, inexplicably, Obama did not use against Romney, as the famous comment of 47%. The president, who followed the debate on Air Force One on a flight Miami Washington, Biden called to congratulate him and says he "cannot be more proud" of him. Paul Ryan was tasked to present Romney as the best padlock for the middle class and gives a human and closes it. The Republican had the added challenge of facing a man with much more political experience. Biden was elected senator when he was two.

But Congressman asserted his work as chairman of the budget committee and could explain the Republican vision of small government and low taxes for everyone, front ballast, he said Obama's policies represent. No foreign policy experience, Cage in this area. He criticized the weakness of President Obama, but could not say what they would do differently in Syria, or under what circumstances would keep troops in Afghanistan. In any case, history shows that the debate between vice presidential candidates may not affect campaigns.

It will be decisive second face-off between Romney and Obama next week, when they will have to answer questions from the audience. Obama cannot rely on his vice president as representative and knows he cannot return to have "a bad night" and wasting a second chance.

The Debate Between Biden and Ryan in Numbers

Interesting is the analysis conducted by the Washington Post about the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and his Republican rival, Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.).

And is that when politicians talk, analysts are fixed throughout.

And that was precisely what made Chris Calizza in his column, The Fix.

Calizza bother to list some of the words that either caught his eye, or were considered important during the heated debate both held last week in Danville, Kentucky.

Among other issues, Biden and Ryan discussed the Middle East conflict, Medicare, Iran, taxes and abortion.
Here, for you to do your own analysis, some of the figures in question:

  • 30, the number of occasions when Biden mentioned the word curl and Medicare. Apparently, the issue of health coverage is more important than it seems.
  • "47 percent", a number that will probably remain uncomfortable for Mitt Romney, Republican presidential candidate.
  • 53, the number of occasions on which the name of the Republican candidate to the White House was mentioned in the debate.
  • 3, the number of times that Biden said the word "nonsense". That was the label's vice president Ryan's stance on foreign policy.
  • 14, the number of times that Biden referred to Ryan as "my friend", although little was in friendly encounter
  • 4, the occasions on which each candidate said "abortion."

Biden and Ryan are Engaged in a War of Words on Foreign Policy

The U.S. Vice President, Joe Biden, and the candidate for the office of the Republican Party, Paul Ryan, have engaged Thursday in a battle of words in his first and final debate ahead of the presidential elections on November 6 for the economy and foreign policy of the Obama administration.

The biggest verbal confrontation occurred in foreign policy. Ryan accused Obama of displaying a posture "weak" to the Iranian nuclear program. "When I took office, Iran had nuclear material to build a bomb, now has enough for five. Four years closer to getting nuclear weapons," he argued.

It has also warned that the Democratic administration will not conduct a preemptive strike against the Persian country's nuclear facilities. "Although the government is now saying that the military option is on the table, sounds implausible," he considered.

For his part, Biden said that "Iran has no nuclear weapon right now" and stressed that is thanks to the determination of Obama, who has managed to impose "the most severe penalties in history," the Persian country. "Do you think that if we had left this to a Republican Congress would have gotten the support of Russia and China and all of our allies?" He questioned.

To this, the Democrat added that if the Islamic Republic fails to achieve sufficient enriched uranium to manufacture nuclear weapons "the White House will know," stressing that the U.S. government then could deal "a serious blow" to Iran.

Both have also discussed the assault of a militia group the U.S. consulate in the city of Benghazi, located in eastern Libya, which resulted in the death of the country's U.S. ambassador in Tripoli, Christopher Stevens, two former members of the elite forces and a computer expert.

The Republican candidate has criticized the Government has given confusing information on this incident. "The president took him two weeks to find out and recognize that it was a terrorist attack," he complained. "We call things by their name," he promised.

Ryan also criticized poor security measures. "Our ambassador in Paris has a group of marines protecting him. Should not we have had a group of marines protecting the consul in Benghazi, where we know that there are cells of Al Qaeda?" Raised.

In response, the vice president has promised to "get to the bottom of the matter" and "take us where it takes us" to "tell the American people never to make the same mistakes." "I can assure you that we will find those responsible and bring them to justice," he added.

Biden took the opportunity to criticize the Republican candidate for the White House, Mitt Romney, to give a talk on Libya, shortly after the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. "That was not very presidential," he said, making a comparison with the attitude of the former governor in last week's confrontation with Obama.

Economically

In economic news, Ryan has repeated the arguments of Romney. "We're going in the wrong direction," he asserted, noting that the United States is growing at 1.3 percent, "which is less than the previous year and above", and that the level of employment in September was less than the August and July. "Of course, this does not seem an economic recovery," he argued.

In response, Biden has made a commitment to the American people "will not rest until theirs can promise that everything will go well," stressing that the Obama presidential project "is aimed at the middle class."

In this regard has attacked the Republican position. "When the economic crisis began, we went to the rescue of the middle class and help them refinance their mortgages to avoid losing their homes. Romney Say what? 'No, let mortgages hit bottom," he remembered.

Tense debate

The confrontation between Biden and Ryan has been characterized as much more intense than the one led by his 'number one', Obama and Romney, respectively, thus meeting the expectations of the American people in the debate between vice presidential candidates.

Biden has shown an aggressive, coming to describe as "nonsense" many of the claims made by his opponent, laughing at your questions and answers and interrupting him several times.

Ryan, meanwhile, has kept a lower profile, but also despised his interlocutor to show half smile as Vice President outlined his arguments.

Example of this war of words has been the debate over video that disqualifies Romney Democratic voters, half of Americans, accusing them of presenting themselves as victims of society for not paying taxes.

On this question, Ryan noted that "a person prone to making mistakes should understand that sometimes the words do not always go the right way." To which Biden answered: "I always say what I mean."

Biden Comes to the Rescue of Obama after his Fall in the Polls

The lights are now placed on Joe Biden, chairman and number two man whose mission tonight's debate between vice straighten the crooked campaign Barack Obama after his embarrassing performance last week in Denver. Not that the debate between vice suelan have much or be a turning point in the race for the White House. Not at all. What happens is that if the former senator Biden Democrat does not raise the flag as high as he can, surveys a week ago are favorable to Mitt Romney still stubborn, this time more steeply-denying victory to Obama touched upon passing through Colorado.

Biden has arrived confidently and linguist, which could be a problem, to Kentucky, where state held in the small town of Danville face to face in the second sword of candidates to the White House, Joe Biden and Paul Ryan. "I cannot wait it gets," Biden told reporters waiting for him at the airport in reference to meeting with Ryan. When asked if he thought the tactic pugilistic exercise known as rope-a-dope, and that is basically fit exhaust the energy hits the opponent then finish him by surprise, and many analysts speculated that Obama did just that against Romney in Denver, Vice resounding replied: "Have you ever seen me do that?"

With a rope-a-dope Muhammad Ali defeated George Foreman in a historic battle in 1974. If Biden is victorious tonight certainly not because he is in his script-planned for days in Delaware with utmost Obama strategist David Axelrod-do with such a maneuver. Biden, 69, refuses to be bashing or voluntarily placed on the ropes.

Facing him will be young Republican breastfed theses Tea Party. A victory for Paul Ryan, 42, confirms the current strong position of the Republicans in the final stretch of the campaign, yesterday to 26 days before the election. For the first time, Mitt Romney was this week over Barack Obama in the average of the surveys conducted by Real Clear Politics (46.3% for Democrat versus 47.4% for McCain). Also for the first time, the blog of The New York Times devoted to electoral predictions hoya FiveThirtyEight gives Obama electoral votes below 300.

Biden to the rescue?? Experts say that the voters elected president based on who goes with them on the ticket and that Obama will have to fix it by himself broken in the next two debates that are coming, next Tuesday 16th in the State of New York (Hempstead) and Thursday 22 in Boca Raton (Florida). Then we will know if implemented tactics hit left and then turn to the action and take all the artillery. For now, he has already stated that it was "too polite" when he appeared with Romney on 3 October.

The 90-minute debate tonight at the Art Centre College School-with just 1340 students-will be moderated by ABC reporter Martha Raddatz and address issues of national and international politics. Certainly, the former chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate will feel comfortable in these matters. Biden policy exercised when Ryan had not yet started to take its first steps-literal, not figurative, in his native Wisconsin. It is almost certain that the Democratic candidate will build on the podium today, but the format is both seated behind a table to utter his favorite phrase. That foreign policy that combines with the interior: "Osama Bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive."

However, as chairman of the Budget Committee of the House of Representatives, Ryan will try to compensate for their international inexperience with his knowledge of the budget and the federal debt after 14 years on economic issues in Congress.

Without doubt, sit face to face to millions of people watching TV. But it is also certain that the Biden-Ryan tandem achieved not eclipse the 70 million viewers that managed to reach the debate between Biden and former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin four years ago.
